Apple wins Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 injunction....
Apple has secured a new injunction against Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 7.7 in Germany, forcing the company to yank the tablet from IFA 2011 show stands as we saw on Saturday. The courts in Dusseldorf granted Apple’s request for a ban on sales and promotion of the new Android slate, Yonhap News reports; “Samsung respects the court’s decision” spokesperson James Chung told Bloomberg, though went on to criticize the ruling as something that “severely limits consumer choice in Germany.”

Sony Ericsson will be only Sony by the mid 2012 Read more: http://saypeople.com/2011/12/06/sony-ericsson-will-be-only-sony-by-the-mid-2012/#ixzz1pXvVwWKH
Sony has planned to sell mobiles with its own name without adding Ericsson.
Sony has announced this in October, after the announcement that Sony is going to purchase Ericsson’s half of the joint venture for approximately $1.5 billion. The mobile phone company was founded in 2001 and making a wide range of smartphones, in some of which there is Google’s Android operating system works.
Kristian Tear, a Sony Ericsson executive vice president, told The Times of India about the re-branding efforts and the switching process that should be completed by the mid of 2012.
“A lot of planning goes into getting the branding right but we will be done by middle of next year,” Tear said. “It will also mean that the marketing and advertising investments will go up. We haven’t been as fierce as we were a few years back but we will step it up, refocus and invest more in brand-building in select markets, and India is one of those markets.”
Sony has plans to use the full resources to get the top position in the Android smartphone market

How iPhone OS destroys Windows Phone 7 without even shipping
Windows Phone 7 (no "Series" any more, which is a shame because—other than Merc fanbois—who wouldn't want a 7 Series?) was always going to struggle.
Apple is, of course, the company getting all the love; the iPhone has been phenomenally successful. Android has finally started getting the handsets it deserves and now shows itself to be a capable, attractive, desirable platform. Windows Mobile, however, is widely hated, and is frankly dying where it sits. Windows Phone 7 is a necessary abandonment of Microsoft's cell phone legacy, but it also means that the new platform has to start from scratch. No pre-existing users, little pre-existing software, and two major competitors who are delivering a strongly competitive alternative.
As well as going up against this entrenched legacy, Redmond has the additional problem that Windows Phone 7 is, essentially, a version one product. Yes, I know Windows Mobile 6 is awful—every day I curse my Touch Pro for its hateful software—but in spite of its massively flawed user interface and weak kernel, it's a mature product, and this maturity has brought features like enterprise configurability, multitasking, copy and paste, and a range of other benefits.
I'm not going to pretend that Windows Mobile was a viable basis for future development. The entire front-end needs to be replaced with something that's finger-friendly, and the kernel needs to be replaced with something offering true memory protection and unlimited multitasking. There are also substantial benefits to tighter control of the platform and its hardware, so I certainly understand and agree with the broad direction of Windows Phone 7.
And, as version one products go, it doesn't look too bad. I think the UI concept is strong and striking; in limited usage it seems to work well. In certain areas, Microsoft's product is clearly better thought-out than Apple's—a "glanceable" interface that tells you what you need to know, the hubs concept that brings together different but related data silos, the connectivity with social networking, and wireless syncing. It also has a development environment that will (I believe) have lower entry barriers than Apple's and make it easier for developers to produce high-quality applications that fit well within the OS (something never achieved on Windows Mobile).
Microsoft has certainly embraced online services in a way that Apple has been reluctant to do. The Xbox Live integration also looks interesting; although the scale of the markets is such that buy-in from Xbox gamers is never going to make or break a mobile platform, it should just enable gaming experiences of a kind previously unavailable on phones.
But version one of the product is going to give up a lot. Enterprise configurability is unlikely (so no policies to lock out cameras, prohibit application installation, etc.). Copy and paste almost certainly won't be ready for version one. Even Windows Phone 7's desirable development environment has a downside; there won't be any native code development on Windows Phone any time soon. Perhaps most importantly of all, the initial version won't support multitasking of third-party applications.
Multitasking matters

AT&T unveils early-2012 tablet and smartphone lineup: Xperia ion, Galaxy Note, Skyrocket HD and more
Carrier AT&T announced today at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show six new Android devices, including Samsung’s Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Ion, and more. In all, five Android smartphones and one 4G LTE tablet were announced for early 2012.
The new Sony Ericsson Xperia ion —the handset maker’s first 4G LTE smartphone seen above— is an AT&T network-exclusive boasting a 12-megapixel camera and a large 4.6-inch display. The 5.3-inch Galaxy Note largely resembles its European counterpart, sans the added support for 4G LTE radio technology.
Per The Verge’s hands-on, the United States version has “a more traditional four-button capacitive arrangement below the display instead of the single button found on the European model.” Samsung is advertising this device like crazy in Europe, so it should gain traction in the U.S. if AT&T follows suit.

Nokia's Lumia 710 Windows Phone announced alongside the 800, hitting select markets by end of year
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You didn't think Nokia would go through all this hoo hah just for one handset, did you? Nope, the potential audience is far too big to be satisfied with just one device at one price point, so here comes the Lumia 710. It takes advantage of the same 1.4GHz CPU found in the Lumia 800, offers a 3.7-inch ClearBlack display and comes in "stealthy black" and "crisp white," with replaceable back covers. Look for the 710 to be priced around €270, or $375. For availability, you can expect to see the Lumia 710 hitting France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK in November and then Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan by the end of the year, with additional markets in the first part of 2012.
Is that Mystery Nokia Windows Phone the Lumia 601?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is supposedly the Nokia Lumia 601 Windows Phone, but we'll be honest: we're not sure what to make of this image. On the one hand, it came from a pretty reliable source and depicts a handset seemingly leaked by Nokia itself in a developer video this past week. On the other hand, it looks a little bit off -- not like the product renders we're used to seeing. Plus, as we noted when the (now-edited) video debuted, the mystery device looks a lot like a generic placeholder image that Nokia has been using for some time.
If it is in fact genuine -- meaning representative of a real-world handset -- then we'd seem to be looking at a phone even lower-end, relatively, than the Lumia 710, according to Nokia's new device nomenclature. Since no specs were available to accompany the image, we can't be certain that holds true here, especially with what appears to be an eight-megapixel camera aboard (the 710 offers a five-megapixel shooter).
We do know that the head of Nokia France recently likened the Lumia 800 to BMW's 5-series, suggesting that a 7-series (Lumia 900?) was also inbound. Following that analogy, then, could the Lumia 710 be a "3-series," with the supposed Lumia 601 being the "1-series"?
Update: The Nokia Blog astutely notes that the camera module here is very similar to -- but, to our eye, not the exact same as -- the full focus unit found on the Symbian-powered C7. That either further discredits this render or is perhaps indicative of the alleged 601's lower-end components and Nokia's move downmarket.
Nokia Lumia 800 prices as a spreadsheet: how much does it cost?
We've calculated how much you'll pay for Nokia's newest smartphone running Windows Phone 7.5 'Mango'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Are you in line for one of Nokia's new Lumia 800 smartphones running Windows Phone 7.5 (aka "Mango")? Then you'll have to be in it for the long run – there don't seem to be contract-free offers.
The contracts on offer – mainly from Vodafone if you want anything less than 24 months – mean you'll end up paying a total of at least £631 (cheapest total cost of ownership – TCO – on a Vodafone 12-month £36/month contract) and up to £1,104 (Vodafone 24-month £46/month contract).
That comes in £160 cheaper than the cheapest 24-month iPhone 4S, from Orange, according to our spreadsheet on iPhone 4S prices.
Here's the spreadsheet. Generally, Three works out cheapest for a given combination (where it competes) and its unlimited data and texts offerings seem pretty compelling – assuming, of course, that you can get coverage. (Three's site does let you check that first.)
